Augment your life with a new phone!

Cell phones were a smart thing from the start.  They became popular in a short time. Step by step, model by model a cell phone became a regular Swiss knife kind of gadget.

A new cell phone is a must, and is not like you want a new one when the old one is busted. No, new cell phones mean upgrades, mean new technology, and high tech evolution. One day you see that your phone is so obsolete that is unbearable to use it in public anymore. Smartphones combine a cell phone with GPS navigation units, digital camera, pocket video camera and portable media players. The smart part which makes the big difference between a normal phone and a smart one is the advanced application programming interfaces. Only they would do something with their batteries lifespan.

A mind blowing attribute of smartphones is the augmented reality. Using sensors, the phones camera, GPS and computer graphics, a smartphone let us interact with the surrounding in a digital high tech way.  Real world environments are augmented using computer-generated sensory input as sound, video, graphics and GPS data. The view of reality is modified, thus enhancing our current perception of reality.

Two of the most important applications that make augmented reality possible are: the Layar browser and QR codes.

Layar is a mobile browser that uses augmented technology, in-built camera compass and GPS to identify your location and field of view. The various information integrated into it will be shown  from your  geographical point of view. The farther you are from an objects coordinates, the farther they will appear. The Layar reality browser places computer generated objects around us, based on given coordinates. In staid of promoting a product or an event by posting posters, 3d objects and characters can be placed in given location while Layar sends the coordinates to your phone.

QR Codes are more and more present in outdoor ads, on books, or in online avatars.

A QR code is a bi-dimensional code .QR comes from quick response, as the code is instantly decoded by your phone. The more characters it has, the more amount of stored data it contains.

The firs time you see them is weird, because you don’t get it. What could you see in those black and white squares?. And is a little bit disturbing for the ones that don’t have a smart phone or a pad to see these barcodes look alike all over the place and on big billboards to. Than, when is time to choose a new cell phone you choose a smartphone  because you want to experience  those hundreds of applications and to see what the heck is behind those QR codes. Is like having your fortune finder, you see the reality but you also see virtual Easter eggs in it. Because this is what augmented reality does, it enriches your surrounding environment with   virtual new aspects/treats. And it’s magic, the magical look, turning reality into something new, and seeing new thing not in 3d but in the real world is a real treat.S ome redirect us to a product’s site as they contain the site’s URL. Others show us 3d models. Once the QR code is set on a surface the phone detects knows were the floor is and this is why the character you will see will appear as touching the ground in a realistic way

Advertising companies all over the world use augmented reality as a new way of attracting the consumer. We love to see that our actions have reactions. Using augmented reality the consumer can interact with the product.

Augmented reality is still at the begining an a lot more are still to be seen, be prepare for this great technology with a nee cell phone that fits yout needs best.
